Small town USA..............
by Sunnygal41 inwho of you on the jwd grew up in a small town?
take us back to one small event in your childhood that you remember.......this may just be a tactile sensation, like the smell of hay or pines or may be something as simple as the feeling of hot, dry dust underfoot........
for me, i remember the hardness of the soil in upstate new york.

Baptize 'em young, keep 'em outta Sports - My notes from the last assembly
by jgnat ini had heard of accounts of young baptisms, but i figured it was the exception rather than the rule.
now i wonder, after viewing the models of youth paraded at the last assembly.
i took note of the ages and age of baptism of the five young men (no girls this time) who were interviewed as models of jw youth at this last week's assembly.

yes, I relate strongly to this; identifying with JP.
I was 13 years old when baptized; kept away from any extracurricular activity at school. This also included any sports or after school clubs. This included any interaction with anyone "wordly". In school I was an outcaste; although I had a popular social life with the congregation young people.
I also became a young MS, and full time pioneer at 17 and an assistant book servant ( big *&%$# deal!) I was the "goody goody" who represented the ideal JW youth; the example shown at circuit assemblies.
It was many years of lost education; social interaction; friendships ---these things can never be replaced. My wife ( who was never a JW) has good friends from her early school years.
Sad for all these young ones who are being misled; I do understand their plight ( although they do not) and I grieve --mainly for my own loss--but also for them.

Have you experienced a Tornado?
by jeanniebeanz intoday, a small tornado touched down in south san francisco and people went nutz.
it was very localized and basically blew out a few windows, but looking at the local news you'd think that the sky was falling.
since some of you live in 'tornado alley', can you please enlighten us californians as to what you consider to be a 'real' tornado?

8 years ago a funnel cloud ( tornado which did not touch down) swept over my property and split a 150 year old oak tree down the middle. It cost me $2000. to have the tree removed. If the tree had come down it would have crushed the maids cottage it was towering over....
Aside from that; I did see "The Wizard of Oz" and the movie "Twister". That is as close as I care to get....

2034 - A Future History of Jehovah's Witnesses
by slimboyfat ini don't know what i am talking about... read this post at your peril.
back in the 1960s there was, seemingly, a brief period of relaxation in authoritarianism among jehovah's witnesses.
those who have read raymond franz's 'crisis of conscience' will have heard the story about dan sydlik's remark about the need to 'open some windows to let some air in here'.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE TERRI SCHIAVO CASE?
by Mary inthere is apparently no chance at all of her ever recovering from her present state, but do you think she should live or die?
for myself, i think she's better off dead than living---no, existing---in her present state.
i for one, have instructed my family to let me die if something like this ever happened to me.

my personal reaction is that the husband is a control freak; and the fact that she is insured for one million dollars does make him suspect.....especially since he has another woman and two children .
If this girls parents want to assume guardianship and there is no living will; why can he not grant them this?
as for the governments involvement; I think it is good to rule in favor of life; however this does conflict with the laws governing abortion....

New MS treatment derived from goats blood
by New Worldly Translation inthis treatment, called aimspro, isn't available yet but from what i have read and seen reported it's had very encouraging results.
one guy with extreme muscle weakness was able to feel normal strength in his arms after just 20 mins.
i wonder what jw's would think of this product as it's a blood based serum.
-
franklin J
anything that has good results should be tried by the victim of disease; irregardless of what the WTB&T Society has to say.
The fact that so many have sacrificed themselves or loved ones due to the blood issue is just intolerable.
I do hope this helps all MS victims; several of my friends or their children have been stricken by this disease.
